Should learners get pocket money, and HOW MUCH?

Yo School Magazine spoke to a couple of learners at Far North Secondary School, I concluded that learners should be getting a minimum of R25 daily judging from the food pricing at their tuck-shop.

According to an educator I spoke to, learners should get a maximum of R20 on Fridays only as they should have a lunch box for the rest of the days. Learners are known to play silly games with the money they receive, smoke or even drink the money they get from home.

Some of the parents say they don’t have the time to prepare lunch boxes for their children, hence they give their children money. Some say they make lunch boxes because they don’t have the money to be giving to the learners. So yes, we have a mixed bag of responses, YOU DECIDE, share your thoughts!
