To commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC), YouthHubAfrica, in partnership with ActionAid Nigeria, hosted a debate competition among six schools in Abuja. The goal was to highlight the importance of educating girls for a sustainable future.
The debate, themed “Is empowering girls through education the most important factor in building a sustainable future?”, saw young girls discuss how education helps them contribute to economic growth, protect the environment, and drive social change.
They also explored other important factors, such as access to technology, political stability, and gender equality.
At the end of the competition:
– Government Secondary School Karu came in first,
– Government Day Secondary School Wuse 2 took second place, and
– Government Secondary School Zone 3 finished third.
The event demonstrated the power of education in transforming the lives of girls and building a brighter future for everyone. As we celebrate IDGC, we remain dedicated to creating opportunities for girls to reach their full potential, raise their voices, and lead positive change in their communities – By YouthHubAfrica!
