Esihle Mhluzi is a disability advocate. She works as a technology enablement specialist, championing digital inclusion and tech solutions that work for everyone, especially those too often left behind. As a National Executive Committee Member of the Disabled Youth South Africa (DYSA), she actively shapes policy and pushes forward the disability agenda on national and global platforms, including collaborations with UN bodies and government agencies.
Mhluzi says: “Women in South Africa are very intentionally redefining what liberation means. We disrupt the status quo by challenging and addressing market failures, creating networks of care and pioneering legal, cultural and economic reform.Â
“The next challenge for women must be against the alt-right. We cannot simply reduce their growing presence in Africa to Western influence alone.
“We need to recognise that alt-right thinking is embedded in our own patriarchal and nationalist systems. Freedom, democracy and gender rights are all at stake.”
