Mpho Motlhaolwa (20) lives in Eldorado Park, Joburg. He has registered to vote, but he has not voted before and is having second thoughts about voting in November.
When he spoke, there was disappointment all over his face, as though he had lost all hope in the municipality governing his community.
“I have registered to vote but I do not think I will vote. The main reason for that is empty promises,” he explained.
“I am from Eldorado Park and there is crime everywhere. We have been addressing this issue as a community for years, but they do not hear us. There are potholes, no sewage drainage. These are some of the reasons why I will not vote.”
He admitted that he no longer followed politics as corrupt leadership and politicians colluding with criminals had turned him off entirely
