The Kingdom of Eswatini: A Small Nation with a Big History.
Situated between South Africa and Mozambique, Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland) is a small, landlocked kingdom known for its rich history, culture, and stunning landscapes.
Eswatini was first settled by the Bantu-speaking people in the 15th century and was later colonized by the British in the 19th century.
In 1968, the country gained independence and changed its name to Eswatini, which means ‘land of the Swazis.’
Eswatini is a constitutional monarchy, and the current king, King Mswati III, is an absolute monarch who wields considerable power.
Despite being one of the smallest countries in Africa, Eswatini is home to a rich diversity of cultures, languages, and traditions, including the famous Umhlanga Reed Dance, an annual cultural festival that honors Swazi women.
Eswatini’s economy is primarily driven by agriculture, with sugar cane being the main export.
The country’s tourism industry, centered on its natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural attractions, is also growing.
