LAW ENFORCEMENT TO ENSURE SAFE GRADE 12 EXAMS!

As Matriculants across the country start with their final exams this week, the Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety has urged Law Enforcement Agencies to work closely with Education Officials to stamp out any irregularities, intimidation and violence.

The Committee has noted with concern the irruption of violent incidents in some townships across the Province particularly between local residents and foreigners who own spaza shops in these areas.

These kinds of violent incidents have a potential to negatively affect the Grade 12 Examinations by instilling fear and disturbing Matriculants who are at this time expected to be given all the necessary support to ensure that they succeed in these important examinations.

The Committee calls on Law Enforcement Agencies to tighten security measures around schools where Grade 12 learners are expected to write their examination and to respond with speed to any potential incident which is likely to compromise the integrity and credibility of these examinations.

The Committee further calls on Law Enforcement Agencies to be on high alert to respond to any form of security related incidents during this period and priorities the safe storage and delivery of examinations papers.

Lastly, the Committee would like to take this opportunity to wish all the Grade 12 learners the best of luck during their examinations and requests society at large to ensure that they create enabling and conducive enforcement for these learners to study and excel.
