Recognised as one of Africa’s most influential women in healthcare, Dr Augusta Dorning is the managing partner of the healthcare consultancy Extraordinary Hospitals of Africa. She has 40 years of leadership experience in public, not-for-profit and private healthcare organisations and has served on boards and in executive leadership roles for the past 35 years. She is an author, a practising academic and a TEDx speaker.
Dorning says: “Women are trail-blazing in all aspects of healthcare, from primary health care, to research, to finding and implementing life-saving solutions.
“On the flip side, women and children are the most affected by poverty and the battle for access to healthcare. We see this now in countries currently and recently ravaged by conflict, where women bear the brunt of the consequences of war.”
