During this year’s 16 days of Activism from November 25 to December 10, the members of Cosmo City SAPS Social Crime Prevention initiated various projects within the Cosmo City community to highlight the meaning and the importance of the Campaign.
Their projects were focused on Vulnerable Groups and included School Child Safety Awareness Campaigns in various Schools, Elderly Awareness and Gender Based Crime Awareness campaigns.
Constable Motlopi said “16 Days of Activism is a global campaign where people around the world unite to raise awareness and challenge gender-based violence and discriminatory attitudes towards vulnerable groups. Our hope is to improve people’s knowledge, service delivery and the prevention of such crimes.”
Also included was a Disability Awareness Campaign held at Cosmo Multi-Purpose Centre.
Warrant Officer Ramalatso said “Here we invited our disabled community and various community role players to discuss and educate how we can better enable, empower and include an often-neglected part of our society. We also use this opportunity to inform the public of the availability of Victim Empowerment Centres and Counsellors at our Police Stations.”
The members of Cosmo City SAPS welcome any organizations or entities who might like to join or support their various Awareness Campaigns.
