At the London Landfill Site in Limpopo’s Maruleng Local Municipality, 22 waste pickers are making serious strides in turning waste into economic opportunities, with the support of a local trust formed by the non-profit company, Kruger to Canyons.
Late last year, encouraged by the waste pickers’ dedication, Petco provided the team with bale wires, personal protective equipment and a pallet stacker to make their work safer and more efficient. Now, with 20 newly delivered branded trolleys, the collectors can collect and move recyclables more easily and load bales without needing heavy equipment.
These warriors of waste are doing a fantastic job, and our goal is simply to make their lives a little easier. With Petco’s support, they are taking their fledgling operations to a whole new level.
