Following the loss of 14 learners in a Scholar transport accident on Monday 19 January 2026, families of the learners that passed on in the tragic accident are calling for the owner of the taxi to face the might of the law as well, and not just the 22 year old driver Ayanda Dludla, who abandoned bail yesterday.
Every year, over 1,200 school-aged children lose their lives on South African roads. Many of these tragedies are preventable with proper car seats—but affordability remains a major barrier.
There will be a mass memorial service today and a mass funeral on Sunday 25 January 2026, may the souls of the departed rest in Eternal Peace.
