Uyanda Mbuli Corporation’s Disability Connect, led by myself Uyanda Sibiya in my capacity as a Deaf Rights and Inclusion Global Advocate, has officially been awarded the national hosting rights for Miss + Mister Deaf Universe South Africa 2026.
This national platform serves as South Africa’s official pathway to international representation within the Miss + Mister Deaf Universe global system.
As part of the national rollout, Disability Connect will conduct talent searches across all nine provinces of South Africa, ensuring inclusive and representative access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth nationwide. Dates and venues will be announced in February 2026.
Eligibility:
Participants aged 18 to 30, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, female and male.
This initiative is embedded within Disability Connect’s broader mandate to advance Deaf leadership, visibility, economic participation, and global representation, grounded in systems-level inclusion and constitutional alignment.
Miss + Mister Deaf Universe South Africa is not a pageant alone. It is a national leadership and talent development platform, designed to position Deaf youth as cultural ambassadors, change-makers, and contributors to South Africa’s social and economic future.
