Following successful sting operations conducted in various provinces across the country which resulted in the confiscation of thousands of illicit and non-compliant products, the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), in partnership with the City of Tshwane, the South African Police Service (SAPS), South African Revenue Service (SARS) and other stakeholders, will continue its high-impact surprise operation drive in the metropolitan city to identify and remove illicit non-compliant goods from the market and hold non-compliant traders accountable.

The team will begin with a short briefing before moving into hotspots identified through intelligence and consumer tip-offs for selling illicit and unsafe goods.
Raids will target both formal and informal traders, ensuring full compliance with compulsory specifications under the NRCS Act No. 5 of 2008. Any unsafe products will be seized and removed immediately, protecting the public and reinforcing the NRCS’s zero-tolerance approach to non-compliance.
