Philani Potwana, 32-year-old South Africa’s youngest CEO of Easy Segment at First National Bank (FNB). He is the brain behind giving people the ability to withdraw money from their bank accounts without using their bank cards. His innovative cardless withdrawal system led to FNB being named the most innovative bank in the world in 2012.
“I came up with the card-less cash withdrawals using Cellphone Banking idea for the world’s most innovative bank. I wanted people to withdraw money from their bank accounts without the need of a bank card. Little did I know the idea was a first in the world” he said.
Philani Potwana was born and raised in rural Eastern Cape. He holds a Master of Commerce (MCom) in Business Management from the University of Johannesburg, BCom Honours degree in Information Systems and BCom degree in Information Systems & Technology from the University of Kwazulu Natal.
