NEW LIFE CHURCH COSMO CITY held their World Aids Day commemoration on Sunday 3 December at 21 Sierra Leone Avenue, under the theme: “Let the Communities Lead”.
I recently spoke to Coach Aleseng Mogale about her personal, professional and entrepreneurial journey thus far.
What is your core business, when people ask you what you do, WHAT DO YOU SAY?
Herbalife Nutrition. I am a Wellness Coach. I help or assist people to lead a healthy lifestyle and teach the importance of nutrition and the impact that has on our health and also the importance of exercise as part of the healthy lifestyle.
This journey started when I was battling with constipation, having bad eating habits and started gaining weight around my waist and that took away my self-confidence and I was uncomfortable when wearing my clothes.
Tell us about your early life to your role today!
I started school back in the small rural area in Rustenburg, in a village called Ngweding from primary school and high school and matriculated in Joburg in Kempton Park. I have always known that I wanted to be my own boss one day, and I started studying business management as I believed that I needed necessarily skills to run my own business one day. So, I have the Higher certificate in business management. I am also working as the ecommerce Coordinator, in the pet industry.
What does your role mean to you?
My role entails a lot of learning in terms of running an online platform, where you can be selling any goods online. This for me is more learning and adding to the skills that I currently have.
What are the most critical resources for your successful leadership?
– Mission & Vision
– Building Relationships
– Personal Development or Growth
– Authenticity
– Consistency & Persistence.
What can we expect from you going forward?
Helping many people locally and internationally using the Herbalife products, as the mission is to improve people’s lives through nutrition – making the world a healthier and happier place.
What are your words of advice for young people, particularly women to start small businesses?
Eliminate fear of doing new things, take risks, do it hard, do it even if you scared and do it excitedly. You owe you every success and you are capable of making a change in people’s lives.
What are your thoughts on Covid-19 in terms of small businesses, what measures should business owners take to protect their businesses?
Learn new skills about online businesses, you can run an online business around your home, and learn about passive income, learn about investing your money to make more money so you won’t be affected if we were to have another pandemic, do not rely on the 1 income, instead diversify your income by 2, by 3, by 4, by 10.
What is the legacy that you would want to leave when you retire?
Firstly, to teach my siblings and my daughter on how to start their own business while they are still growing, and also the youth assisting as many people on how to create an income so that they can pass it on to their families.
How does your business contribute to the community?
Inviting everyone, young and old to take care of their bodies and learn how to protect your body by leading a healthy lifestyle.
Feeding the body with good nutrition and creating awareness around obesity and overweight issues that lead to chronic illnesses like High blood pressure and diabetes.
What have been your highs and lows of your working career?
Just like any other business, every business has its own lows and downs, we often see people going back to their old ways and unhealthy habits which makes it difficult for them to reach their goals if there is no discipline.
When you are not at work, what do you get up to, and where can people follow you or your business online?
My team and I have the Bootcamp every Saturday & Sunday at 6h30 where we invite people for a free workout and sample the tea and our products to give people the experience of our products, it is such an environment where we come and give each person an opportunity to work on themselves and their body to reach their desired body goals through workout and our products.
I have now started adding a little bit more of personal development so that people can grow and make better decisions in all areas of their lives.
In closing, it was such great questionnaire that really opened my eyes and thoughts, with a lot of self-reflection and vision myself doing better than last year.
