The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), led by Speaker Honourable Morakane Mosupyoe, will formalize its partnership with the Office of the Public Protector (PPSA) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tuesday, 26 November 2024. The event will take place at Mayibuye Primary School in Rabie Ridge.
The purpose of this MOU is to strengthen collaboration, establish rules of engagement, and foster improved communication between the GPL and PPSA. This partnership aims to enhance public accountability, improve governance, and ensure better public administration.
The signing ceremony at Mayibuye Primary School underscores the impactful cooperation between the two institutions. The school is symbolic of this partnership, as GPL’s oversight work brought to light allegations of the school being built on a wetland—an issue later investigated by the PPSA. This joint effort highlights the shared commitment of both parties to serving local communities effectively and ensuring sustainable, accountable governance.
The signing of this MOU forms part of the GPL’s broader mandate of cooperative governance, demonstrating its dedication to fostering collaboration with institutions that promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.
