The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety will host a delegation from the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety & Transport Management for a benchmarking exercise on Friday, 21 February 2025.
The purpose of this engagement is to share best practices and effective oversight models for provincial community safety initiatives, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two Legislatures.
As part of the program, the delegation will undertake a tour to the Provincial Integrated Command Centre, a state-of-the-art facility established to monitor high crime areas across the province and enable swift responses to incidents.
This visit will provide the North West delegation with insights into the operational strategies and technologies employed to enhance community safety in Gauteng.
Key areas of discussion will also include the implementation and functionality of Gauteng Traffic Wardens, a successful initiative aimed at improving safety in communities, especially high crime areas.
The Gauteng Portfolio Committee will also share its oversight methodologies and strategies for ensuring effective service delivery in community safety programs.
This benchmarking exercise underscores the commitment of both Legislatures to strengthen community safety initiatives and adopt innovative approaches to address crime and safety challenges in their respective provinces.
