By Dudu Msomi,
We say a lot in this life. We make many promises to ourselves and to each other. We project a particular image to the world. We stand on podiums. We speak in the media. We pronounce things.
We sometimes have difficulty reconciling what we say and what we do. We expend a lot of energy expressing our views. We spend a lot of our hours in a day commenting on issues and judging others. Comparing ourselves to others.
Sometimes telling untruths. We accumulate stuff. We scheme. We work ethically. We work smartly. We influence. We change lives. We have our lives changed. We work for hours to get a particular bank balance. To drive certain cars. To take our children to specific schools. To afford particular labels. To see the world.
We sacrifice. We exhaust ourselves. We put a lot of effort doing so much in the hours we are fortunate enough to still have whilst we breath and are alive. Sometimes don’t you wonder what it is all really in aid of?
We come from dust. We return to dust.
