The Gauteng Provincial Legislature will host the 2022 Sector Parliament for Persons with Disabilities Today, 18 March 2022, under theme: Not All Disabilities Are Visible.
This annual sitting is a platform created by the Gauteng Legislature for Gauteng’s Persons with Disabilities to raise issues that affect them. In turn, the Legislature uses its oversight role to see to it that the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) designs programmes based on accurate information and feedback from affected stakeholders, to enhance their quality of life.
The Sitting also educates Gauteng’s Persons with Disabilities on the mandates of the Gauteng Legislature, and how they as stakeholders can actively participate in legislative processes to ensure that their voice is heard, and needs responded to.
Topics to be debated include:
- The impact of COVID-19 on Persons with Disabilities and Social Development (poverty alleviation programme: Disability Grants and others);
- Accessibility of health care services during COVID-19; and
- Participation of Persons with Disabilities in the provincial economy and in education;
- Accessibility to RDP housing for People with Disabilities
Time: 10h00 – 14h00
