President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa admitted that although it is not mentioned in our Bill of Rights, electricity is a basic human right.
Ramaphosa will today deliver his keynote speech at the Human Rights Day celebrations to be held in De Aar, Northern Cape, 63 years after the streets of the southern Gauteng township were drenched in the blood of apartheid protesters.
Looking back at the state of South Africa since the dawn of democracy, 29 years ago, Ramaphosa admitted, rather frankly, that many of our citizens are still not enjoying their human rights.
