Tell me about your early life
Well, I was always interested in doing business and this goes back to my high school days, where I was known as the guy who can get you anything. And this continued into my work life. I seemed to be juggling a lot between my personal and work life because I was running my own business while holding down a full-time job. Over the years, I have learnt various ways to grow multiple businesses and Prestige Car Rental is one of my most successful businesses to date.
What does your role mean to you and what do you do DAILY?
My daily routine includes taking my daughter to school before I start with work. I also look for new business trends and how I can implement these to better serve my clientele.
What are you currently working on and what can we expect from you going forward at Prestige Car Rental?
I have recently partnered up with a start-up car wash in Midrand. And this is a strategic move that speaks to the current service that we as Prestige Car Rental offer so why not have shares in a business that also enables me to get my vehicles cleaned and well maintained.
What initiative (if implemented) would leave the greatest impact for you at Prestige Car Rental?
Going digital would have the biggest impact on the business. The plan is to adopt technological business processes so that we can better serve our clientele and streamline everything.
What would you change if you had all the powers in the world?
We seem to be moving further and further from ‘ubuntu,’ so I would change human hate.
What would you say are the most critical resources for your successful leadership?
To be a successful leader, you need to lead by example and this includes taking into consideration what those around you need and trying to find a way to assist them. Fortunately, people describe me as a peaceful person and very knowledgeable but more importantly, I have learnt that helping someone up doesn’t take anything from you.
What is the legacy that you would want to leave by the time you retire?
My biggest goal is to leave a legacy for my family. I have started teaching my children about business and how they can make money work for them. I want to be respected and remembered for the work and changes I have made in the business world.
How does Prestige Car Rental contribute to the community?
We help out small businesses with investments or business strategic support. We also help other entrepreneurs by referring work to them if we can’t service that client. We believe in collaboration.
What have been the highs and lows in your working career?
My biggest low was when I lost my day job but that loss turned into a high because it forced me to stand and build my brand.
What are your words of advice, inspiration, and encouragement for young people to start small businesses?
Stay humble, focused and helpful to others.
What are your thoughts on Covid-19 in terms of small businesses?
The pandemic has made us stronger and resilient.
When you are not at work, what do you get up to, including family life?
I love spending time with my kids, so my off days include outings as we explore Johannesburg.
