MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development Lebogang Maile will today visit Diepkloof Hostel, amidst violent service delivery protest that erupted in the area today by hostel dwellers.
MEC Maile will be accompanied by senior officials from the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements and the City of Johannesburg Municipality, to solicit a deeper understanding of the concerns raised by dwellers and what triggered today’s protest.
The ANC-led administration under the able leadership of Premier Panyaza Lesufi has prioritised hostel refurbishments and the transformation of these into family units, in line with its Township, Informal Settlements and Hostels (TISH) programme.
