STARTING POINT EMPOWERMENT HUB’s core value are to unleash excellence from learners named as academically incapable and struggling at school.
Starting Point Empowerment Hub offers computer skills to learners doing Grade 4-12 and adults at a very reasonable price.
“When God put it in my heart to initiate Starting Point Empowerment Hub (SPEH) in 2017, I thought the initial aspiration was to empower the community with computer skills at a very affordable fee first, and help kids with their homework whilst at that, however, the empowering through computing was not what He meant for me to do first concerning this project,” says Founder Mpho Adams-Siburi.
“I mean the community hardly recognized it as a great initiative, the number of attendees is less than 20 from then till now. As for the homework assisting, we had one student then till 2019 before covid hit”.
“In 2021, when academic schools re–opened learners had to attend in a shift system, which is when SPEH God’s plan to really empower came wearing a disguise. “Opportunity often comes disguised in a form of misfortune or temporary defeat” as Napolean Hill said”.
Early Life
I completed my matric in 2006, did computer basic skills with Samsung Real Dreams TTO and tool making in 2013. In 2021, I attained facilitate learning using a variety of given methodology with Quality Executive Development (QED).
What does the role mean to you?
Being a founder of SPEH, I found a lifetime opportunity, that God remarkably blesses and correctly name the mislabeled through me.
What is critical for your successful Leadership?
On my leadership resources list, God’s guidance is first, then the love for kids, public speaking, and academia, followed by passion for facilitating, and thought of being part of the unforgettable childhood chapter for these learners.
What can we expect from you going forward?
Expect excellent crafting of God at SPEH and to Starting Pointers (kids attending Starting Point Empowerment Hub).
What is your advice to young people, particularly women, to start a BUSINESS?
My advice is committing your plans unto God will never let you down, you can be sure that he shall surely establish them, also think thoroughly about what you want, know it and work towards it, then stay focused, temporary defeat will come but remember its only temporary.
What are your thoughts on Covid-19, the impact on Small Business?
Covid-19 hit hard all over the world, I mean it was a pandemic, but I believe that those that saw and did not allow it to be the determiner of their lives, used it to bounce back higher. Those that could not, can still rise to the highest heights whenever they choose, as we continuously pray and adhere to the advice of the officials, we can avoid danger.
What Legacy would you love to leave behind when you retire?
A one-of-a-kind continuity of empowering the kids in their social lives, knowing that I have contributed even in a small way to leave the world a better place than I found it. Starting pointers knowing that what they tell themselves is far more important than what others tell them – it is all internal.
How does Starting Point empower the Community?
Empowering the young mistitled as slow and seeing their confidence improve, unleashing their academic capability and excellence for better, self-worth knowing they will be decent adults of the future.
What have been your highs and lows?
My highs are when I instruct a learner and see them flourishing and blossoming. What a wonderful experience it is, lows are when a learner brings non-satisfactory report card and when a learner drops out before the actual goal of producing excellence.
When you are not a WORK, what do you get up to? Where can people follow you?
I mostly spend my time in the house reading, and listening to sermons with my youngest daughter, my husband, and a family friend. If not that then I will be at the park or church when not working.
