There was a girl named Ann. Ann was born in a small village called Brooklane in Zambia. She grew up with her poor parents, Eddie and Mary, who were servants of the chieftaincy in the village.
They worked so hard to send Ann to tertiary. Ann was the first child to go to the university in the family. Her parents were so happy to see their daughter going out there to change their lives. It was so hard for Ann’s mother to see her daughter going out there to face the world alone. “Please don’t disappoint us my baby,” said Mary.
Ann was one of the children that liked writing about everything that was happening in her life. She had this one blue book that she didn’t want anyone to see or even read it. We can say it was her secret book.
Finally, she arrived at university for the first time, nervously so. Imagine a whole village girl in a big busy city…how scary. Ann was excited and scared at the same time. “Oh well this is the life you deserve’ said Ann, confidentially so.
Ann was very humbled and raised well, her parents knew she’ll never disappoint them.
Ann went straight to her campus room using a phone map go app’. She then met her roommate. She greeted her with a very big glamorous smile and say “Hi I’m Pamela your roommate, and you are?” ….. “I’m Ann” she replied.
They clicked so good and started being close friends. Pamela showed her around the campus. She was coping very well and too focused on her studies for three months. She then started seeing this crew called ‘Thee Royals’…she then started liking their lifestyles.
Ann started stalking them and finding information about them, where they came from and about their backgrounds… well she found something interesting about these peers. Ann wanted to be part of the crew so bad. One day she asked Pamela about them. Pamela said.
“These are the people you don’t want to associate with, they way too out of your league”. Ann ignored her.
Ann was a very brave ambitious person you ever came across with. She started using the money her parents were sending her for studies and books to buy new clothes, new weaves and all these expensive shoes she sees in store. She started looking like them.
She looked way beautiful for a village girl. Then the ‘Thee Royals’ crew started recognizing her without even asking for their attention. One day they approached her. “Hey you girl who are you? I love your dress” said Jane, the crew leader… “I’m Ann, Princess of Brooklane Village” Ann replied, she was lying just to fit in… “Oh Ann we also coming from royal families, come on join us for lunch,” said Jane.
They started being close with her and the friendship started being strong and too attached. Ann even forgot about her friend Pamela; she sometimes spent nights with her new friends forgetting her studies. She forgot where she came from and what she promised her parents.
After two months she then started to realize that she been wearing the same clothes more often and her crew is starting to notice. “Why are you always wearing the same hoody on Friday?” Kevin asked… “Oh well is my favourite” replied Ann. The competition started to be tough cause she didn’t want to lose her friends because of her poor life.
When she was walking to the mall some old man offered her a lift, she went silent for a minute without replying the man. She didn’t want to get into the car but she wanted to use the man to get money for clothes. “Jackpot” she said it with a lower voice while getting into the car.
“I am Jack and who is this beautiful girl sitting next to me?” Jack asked while moving his hands to Ann’s thighs… “Uhm my name is Ann” she said… “Beautiful name for a beautiful flower, let me take you out for dinner tonight” said Jack… “No problem, pick me up around 7 at the campus” she said.
Later on, Jack showed himself at the campus as agreed, they went out on a date and everything seemed perfect until the old man asked her if she doesn’t want to finish all they started at his flat. Poor desperate Ann agreed to go with the man because she knew he was her ticket to the famous crew.
They spent a night at Jack’s five-star hotel, it was Ann’s dream comes true. She lived her dreams that night, she felt like a princess for moment. “Can I pour you something to drink?” John asked. “Juice please” she replies. Jack knew that juice won’t put him in the vibe he wants but he always has a plan B which is DRUGS. He then poured a drug on her juice and did everything he wanted with her.
The next he gave her a lot of money and took her to shopping without even minding his budget. Ann has never been this excited. After shopping Jack dropped Ann at the campus gate and she told her friends that Jack is her father not knowing it was her last time seeing him. Ann felt like she is owning the world.
One day she felt sick and she started vomiting. She ignored all the signs and kept losing weight. She skipped classes because of her sickness, she lost all her friends. Three weeks later Pamela asked her to go to the doctor and offered to go with her then they went to the doctor for check-ups and found out that she’s HIV and pregnant.
Ann couldn’t believe it because she doesn’t remember what really happed that day when she was with the old man. Lucky part is, she remembered the address. She went to Jack’s hotel and found him with the other woman and kicked her out like a dog.
Ann had to go back to her village, pregnant and sick…how sad. Her parents were disappointed in her and after finding out that she wasn’t only pregnant but sick too, her father got a heart-attack and her mother immediately fell on the floor and died.
Ann lost everything just like that. She was left with her fatherless child and a permanent disease.
