R15 million under-utilised Taxi Rank in Cosmo City

By Pardon Mguvane Ndlovu
This R15 million under-utilized taxi rank in Cosmo City requires deeper research to check what led to this rank being left idling, could it be lack of consultation with the users, or buy in or proximity?
The etolls along the Gauteng roads network were at least functioning till it was stopped, the public were not given a chance to buy shares.
The Dstv model of installing dishes worked because people were allowed to buy shares, and created jobs for technicians even in the informal settlement dishes are not even stolen.
Gautrain/Riya Vaya should assess how much a taxi owner/ meter taxi makes in a route, allow them to be shareholders in the Kasi bus or Gautrain/Riya Vaya route, and therefore that can be easy to have a better public transport that benefits everyone, and it is sustainable. A taxi marshal benefit in the taxi industry and many others. Therefore, it must be super linked for easy travel.
Hope that the transport agencies, Minister of transport, taxi associations and all stakeholders can work together to integrate transport systems in the country for easy commuting.
Cosmo City has a lot of opportunities and hope the envisaged Gautrain will be well consulted on.
