Today, August 25, is the final day of the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa in Cape Town, where President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address under the theme of “Shaping the future of municipal infrastructure”.
Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson told the symposium that South Africa had completed 37 projects valued at R69-billion over 18 months.
Another 82 projects are under construction, and 54 projects are in the documentation and procurement stage.
These projects are part of the 263 projects in the country’s infrastructure pipeline, which are worth almost R2-trillion.
Macpherson told the symposium: “One of the largest constraints on infrastructure delivery remains inadequate preparation.”
