More than 60% of Johannesburg’s residents are under the age of 35.
Each of these young individuals symbolises immense potential, boundless innovation, and unparalleled hope for the future.
Youth unemployment remains a pressing issue, limiting opportunities and stifling growth.
As Johannesburg, the economic powerhouse of our nation, we acknowledge our responsibility to take bold and impactful action.
When young people are given opportunities, they not only improve their own lives, but they also uplift entire communities.
Our commitment to youth employment includes targeted initiatives.
First, our Green Economy initiatives place young people at the forefront of sustainability, creating meaningful, environmentally responsible jobs.
Secondly, we invest in Digital Skills Development, equipping youth with essential competencies in technology, coding, AI, and cybersecurity.
Lastly, our Internship and Apprenticeship Programs bridge the gap between education and real-world employment, providing practical experience and market-ready skills.
We call on industry leaders to create expansive, inclusive job opportunities. We encourage educators and policymakers to align education with the realities of the job market.
Together, we will spark a Jobs Revolution.
Johannesburg’s bright future awaits our collective effort.
