For 31 years, the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has been the country’s leading Mental Health advocate and provider of free support.
We operate the only Suicide Crisis Helplines in South Africa, providing critical support that operate 24 hours, 365 days a year. The need for this service is overwhelming: 1 in every 4 calls we receive is Suicide-related, highlighting the urgent crises faced by countless South Africans.
While global statistics are grim, the reality is that South Africa has about 14 000 deaths from Suicide per a year. Thus, making accessible, immediate crisis intervention vital.
Our goal for this September, in commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), is clear and immediate: Answer the Call for Help.
Every single rand you donate ensures that voices don’t go unheard and no person in crisis is met with a busy signal.
Our dedicated, SADAG-trained counsellors are ready, and require your help to keep our lines open.
We are urgently reaching out for support to cover our helpline operating costs for the month of September, which totals up to R180,000.
Every rand ensures our calls are answered, turning a moment of need into hope within reach.
We at SADAG are facing a demand for our services. Every day, countless people in desperate need reach out to us, and my team works tirelessly to ensure no call goes unanswered. But we cannot do this alone.
We need your support.
Every single donation, no matter how small, goes directly to keeping our Suicide Crisis Helpline operational. For someone in crisis, the sound of a voice on the other end is not just a call—it’s hope.
Please, donate today.
