Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious infectious disease in which swellings appear on the lungs and other parts of the body.
This is a day to create awareness and give more information to citizens about the disease, its effects and how we can avoid it.
South Africa is the third highest country with TB cases in the World.
Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu said that as much as more and more people know about TB, HIV/AIDS has prepared and equipped us as a society to deal with such a scourge, TB should be given enough attention as it affects quite a number of people globally.
It should be our next liberation struggle and given the same amount of attention and priority as Poverty.
We should act decisively, collectively and now, please”.
Every citizen should find out more information about TB and learn some of the ways to avoid the disease.
