The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Infrastructure Development & Property Management will on Wednesday, 13 December 2023 visit the newly build Finetown Clinic, in Finetown, Johannesburg.
The visit to Finetown Clinic is part of the Committee’s oversight work to assess the quality and value for money in construction projects implemented by the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development on behalf of client Departments.
This is to ascertain whether residents of Gauteng are being provided with the necessary quality public infrastructure that is aimed at improving their quality of life.
The Committee has been conducting oversight visits to various education infrastructure development projects across the province and will now be focusing on health care facilities that are currently under construction or recently completed.
The Committee has been pleased with some of the infrastructure development projects it has visited but remains concerned that there are some with poor quality workmanship, projects being abandoned before completion, price escalations, the impact of “construction mafias” and unnecessary delays in completions of projects.
Details of the oversight visit are as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 13 December 2023
Time: 11h00
Venue: Finetown Clinic, Cnr Phillips & Simmonds Street, Finetown
