Hani, who was renowned for his impeccable leadership qualities and relentless pursuit of freedom for all South Africans, was assassinated on 10 April 1993, outside his home in Dawn Park, Boksburg.
The City of Ekurhuleni conferred the Freedom of the City to Hani posthumously in November 2006 and declared April Chris Hani Month.
The Thomas Nkobi Memorial Park in Boksburg – this is where Hani’s grave, his memorial and Walk of Remembrance sites are situated.
