Paraffin prices have doubled, pushing people in low-income communities into an energy crisis. The poorest, least supported households use paraffin for cooking, lighting, keeping their homes warm, and running their small businesses.
Public pressure has already forced the government to soften the blow of fuel hikes on petrol and diesel.. But paraffin, used by the country’s poorest, has been left off our leaders’ list. So it’s time to make some noise, to get the needs of these paraffin-dependent households on the government agenda. Sign the petition now, and demand the government urgently extend fuel relief to paraffin, starting with a paraffin subsidy.

This couldn’t be more urgent. Winter is on our doorstep, and as temperatures drop, the need for energy becomes critical. Without paraffin, families across the country face freezing homes where food is cold, and even lights can’t be turned on. The socio-economic impact of this crisis would be devastating.
These families rely on paraffin because they have no choice – they live in communities where the government has failed to build the basic infrastructure that would protect the most vulnerable from energy crises like this one. It’s time for the government to finally step up for these communities – before the winter really sets in.

We have witnessed the power of our collective voices before. We have seen how public pressure made it possible for the government to offer a relief levy on petrol and diesel. This shows that the government is able to offer relief, and we need them to do the same for paraffin users. If enough of us sign and share this petition, they will feel pressure to act urgently.
