We won the first crucial step in the UN process for a global plastics treaty!

Thanks to more than one million people like you who took action, yesterday countries at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi, Kenya have made great progress – committing to end the plastics pollution crisis. But the fight isn’t over yet.

The outcome today is historic, not just because it sets a legally binding mandate or because it acknowledges that the entire lifecycle of plastic, from fossil fuel extraction to disposal, creates pollution that is harmful to people and the planet, but because it does all of the above!

That’s right. For the first time EVER, we have the mandate to start negotiating a legally binding global plastics treaty that incorporates ALL STAGES of the lifecycle of plastic pollution in the environment. This is critical, and it is what you and millions of others have been demanding.
