Elizabeth Michael leads Sport Salon, a Nigeria-based sports radio station that has evolved into a sports education, media, and development consultancy.
Here, she drives innovative programmes shaping the next generation of inclusive sports leaders.
Michael says: “There are still very few women executives and founders in sports. We cannot effect change if women are not part of decision-making.
“Yes, good leadership is not gender specific, but some experiences are, and our lived realities affect the policies we think about and how we approach the world. We need more conversation around women getting into sports leadership and executive roles, owning sports assets, and being coaches and scouts.
“Parity in sports goes beyond athletes’ representation – the athletes need us.”
