Kgomotso says: “Women work everywhere! But it has been really exciting to see more women entering manufacturing and tech spaces in key roles.
“I am also enjoying seeing more women work remotely whilst prioritising work/life balance. But there are still not enough women in leadership roles.
“A significant barrier to career advancement in my view is that workplaces do not readily consider what it takes for women to work whilst building families.
“Actually, not just for women but in general. The short amount of unpaid parental leave offered to parents in light of backlogs and delays associated with UIF, means that it is a difficult decision for anyone to consider having children.
“In addition, most workplace cultures are not accommodative of the daily responsibilities associated with parenting from scholar transport to the limited amount of family responsibility leave offered by many workplaces.
“This is why you see so many women leaving corporate environments before they ascend to leadership roles.
“In many cases it simply is not feasible to lead and simultaneously parent.”
