| The Social Media 4 Peace (SM4P) project, implemented by UNESCO in partnership with national and regional actors, seeks to enhance the resilience of societies against harmful online content, including hate speech, disinformation, and incitement to violence, particularly within socially polarised and conflict-affected contexts. In alignment with SDG 16 (particularly target 16.10 on access to information), as well as SDG 4, SDG 5, and SDG 10, SM4P advances the African Union’s Agenda 2063 Goals 11 and 13 on human rights and peace, and contributes to the SADC RISDP 2020–2030 and Vision 2050 objectives for regional peace and stability. Are you a journalist interested in learning more? Join Moxii Africa, Research ICT Africa (RIA) and the Centre for Analytics and Behavioural Change (CABC), for a training workshop focusing on harmful online content, specifically illustrating how such content drives conflict and polarisation, and equips attendees with practical tools for peace-enabling digital engagement. Emphasis will be placed on collaboration, coalition-building, creating safe, inclusive online spaces, and generating gender-transformative peace building narratives. Participants will explore enabling conditions for peace, strengthen their information-integrity practices, and co-develop strategies to address online harms collectively. Date: 17 March 2026 NB: this workshop is by invitation only |
