South African residents have been asked to support Casual Day on Friday 6 September 2024 to show solidarity to people with disabilities.
Casual Day is South Africa’s foremost fundraising campaign for persons with disabilities and is the flagship project of the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in SA (NCPPDSA).
Casual Day has become a firm favourite on the calendar of many of South Africa’s businesses, with some corporate sponsoring stickers for their entire staff complement as a corporate social investment initiative.
It is an excellent opportunity for corporate team building, whilst also making a contribution to one of the country’s most vulnerable sectors of society; persons with disabilities.
Everyone loves Casual Day, the campaign that invites all fun-loving South Africans to dress differently for a day to raise funds and raise awareness of persons with disabilities.
Casual Day is a highlight on the calendar of over 300 participating non-profit making organisations (NPO) s, business – big and small, organisations, schools, book clubs, youth groups and South African citizens at large. For eighteen years we have reserved the first Friday in September for going to work on the dressed in outfits from the fun to the fantastical.
To earn the right to dress up this way, participants make a donation for the official Casual Day sticker. Not only does Casual Day raise funds, it also raises awareness of opportunities for full inclusion of persons with disabilities into the community.
