Intelwatch is hosting a regional advocacy roundtable on Tuesday, 20 October 2026 at 14:30 CAT, focusing on legal and regulatory threats to press freedom across seven Southern African countries.

Building on Intelwatch’s research reports mapping threats to the media in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini and Mozambique, the discussion will explore the most pressing legal and regulatory challenges facing journalists and media organisations in the region.

Bringing together journalists, legal experts and media freedom advocates, the roundtable aims to identify priority threats and explore practical legal and advocacy responses, including opportunities for regional collaboration.

Panellists of the discussion include:

  1. Dr Tabani Moyo – MISA Regional Director
  2. Mmapula Molapong – Journalist and Author of Intelwatch’s Regional Synthesis and Botswana Mapping Threats to Media Report
  3. Nicole Fritz – Executive Director, Campaign for Free Expression
  4. Kananelo Boloetse – Journalist, Lesotho
