The Forge is one of those Joburg spaces where you can almost always count on an interesting conversation, and this should be a particularly thought-provoking one for Daily Maverick readers.
Youth in Struggle marks 14 years since Marikana and 50 years since the 1976 student uprising, bringing music and discussion together to explore the connections between these defining moments and the student protests of today.
The conversation will look at the experiences of the Marikana families, questions of state accountability and violence, contemporary youth struggles and the significance of the Mthokozisi Ntumba street renaming.
